MEMORIES

Some people come into our lives
And make a difference
They give our lives the right spice
And with them, everything makes sense
No matter what happens
They remain in our hearts
This is because they have influenced us
Whether good or bad
They were there when others didn't bother
They provided their shoulders to cry on
They understood like none other
They made sacrifices just to see you as bright as the sun
The mark they've made
Can never be erased
Not even distance can take that away
With them, out of sight is not out of mind
When you remember them sometimes, you want to hit replay
'Cos someone like them, you may never find
Somehow you wish they'll feel the same way about you
So you'll be sure you are not alone in this
Some may still be very much around you
And some may not be
Some you remember and smile
Beautiful things they've done come rushing back
And you think of some and feel a bit of sadness/regret for a while
"Cos they left too soon or didn't have your back
As bad as it may be
You remember the good times you shared
The fact remains there for you to see
That the memories will for ever be there.

Embrace your uniqueness

The level of hypocrisy and deception in our world today baffles me. People do things they wouldn't do on a normal day just to be accepted by others. Some fail to tell the truth or face obvious facts because they don't want to be seen as old fashioned. Sometimes you  do things that you know isn't right just to get what you want from someone. It's sad that ass-kissing is the order of the day.

You know what happens? You probably get what you want but  then, you've succeeded in throwing away your opinion. While trying to fit into the crowd, people tend to forget who they really are. You may not know, but if you continue taking what everyone throws at you, you gradually lose your respect. This happens everywhere; in the home, schools, offices and even religious gatherings. People that are meant to be 'role models' fail to say the truth or sometimes sugar-coat the truth to the taste of the listeners. They are sometimes majorly after the acceptance rather than touching lives.

It could be hard to stick to your guns especially, when it seems that the whole world is against your beliefs/values. If you are sure it's the right thing, stick to it. The thing is each person is unique in his or her own way. So, it's okay for someone to have a different opinion from yours. You should mean what you say and say what you mean. That is integrity!. Most times, it's not that people don't know what to do. It's just that they close their eyes to it and go the other way. If you know something is wrong, desist from doing it. Don't start what you can't finish. On the other hand, if you believe in something, stand for it. Who knows...you may change someone's opinion or even life by standing for what is right.

Embrace your uniqueness.

A NEW PERSPECTIVE

On a beautiful day about a month ago, I left home for school (UI).
Some minutes after the journey started, I started reading meanings to things I saw and I couldn't explain why. The route isn't one I'm not familiar with, as I have lost count of the number of times I have taken this route in the last 5 yrs. Yet, I saw things in a new dimension that day.
From the cab men at Fodacis to the teachers and nurses (I guessed) along Adeoyo road to the policemen at 'Iyana Adeoyo' to those men that forcefully collected money from the cab men at all bus stops, I saw something common to all.

We passed through schools, offices,hotels,eateries,boutiques,banks,petrol/gas filling stations...and something in me told me the owners are all after one thing.
Passing through Dugbe, Mokola/roundabout and Sango, there were many shops with different goods ranging from clothes to shoes and bags, food items, electronics, books and home appliances to mention a few. Many of the shop owners were trying to get the attention of those passing by. Those hawking different things such as snacks, cold water and soft drinks were not left behind in this struggle. And again, I knew they were all after something.
Listening to the drivers and passengers nagging about one thing or the other, watching bike men and drivers of both commercial and private cars shouting at one another on top of their voices, I knew there was more to it.
I got to UI after the whole drama and as I walked to the gate, I saw students with faces portraying happiness, sadness, worry and stress...the reason wasn't far-fetched.
As usual, the bus drivers/conductors were reciting their anthem "Idia, Awo, CBT, enter with your change", "St Annes, Baptist, Idia, enter with your 15 naira, no 5 naira change". They know why they do this, I thought.
I finally got to my room in Idia and I sat down thinking... Then I got a clear picture of everything...I came to the conclusion that everything I saw only shows that everyone is trying to make something out of life, trying to do something to earn a living, looking for ways to get food on their table, struggling to be somebody in life, trying all they can to get MONEY and those things their money can get them...this is the market called LIFE, that we've found ourselves in.
This is the way many of us go through life struggling, hustling, fighting, reading, buying, selling...without actually LIVING.
Then I remembered..."what then shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his life...?"
and I thought and I'm still thinking ...what then is life all about?...and what happens after somethings we see disappear later?...
May God teach us the true meaning of life and how to live to fulfill purpose

I DO

Standing, looking at you eyeball to eyeball
In front of family and friends whose piercing looks almost made me fall
I see the joy in your heart through your eyes
And this makes my ecstasy level rise
I used to wonder how this day would be
But I feel so refreshed as it all unfolds right in front of me
Words can't describe how I feel right now
Because even calling it happiness will be a foul
I'm not feeling this way because of the beauty of today and the glamour associated with the ceremony alone
But most importantly because I know I will be spending the rest of my life with the most amazing man I have ever known
I'm glad we made it here
Against all odds and fear
All I used to hear around me made it seem that men are the same everywhere
And I almost believed I swear
But you proved people wrong
And now, I'm sprung
Thanks for showing me the true meaning of love
It's crystal clear that ours has been destined to be from above
Out of a million guys who took part in the race hitting hard on the pedal
You made it to the finish line and got the gold medal
You bring out the best in me
With you I know what true love should be
I can always count on you because you are ever reliable
And the peace I've found with you is unbeatable
There are broken marriages/homes everywhere around
But I bet ours will be a model for the ones on ground
I'm sure God is smiling right now because he's proud of us
And even our unborn children can't wait to join our wonderful force
I do promise you unconditional love, care and support in all we do
And I mean every bit of it as we say... "I DO"
.....dedicated to all the beautiful couples around....
I hope to say this someday....:-) :-)...
