Imagine it’s 8:55pm on 31st December, 2015 and
you are on a hospital bed. The doctor tells you that you have just 3 hrs to
live.
Now think about the different thoughts that could be going
through your mind at that time. Thoughts of different things you’ve been doing,
both good and bad (especially the bad) will flash through your mind. You’ll
probably start praying, asking for forgiveness of sins. You’ll probably start to beg God and make
promises that you’ll stop this or do that if only he would just spare your life
to see a new day and a new year.
You are still alive now. Yeah, we made it into 2016. You may
wonder...but I was not on a sick bed on 31st December (or maybe you
were), so how does this concern me? The point is we’ve all escaped death one
way or the other; either cases we are aware of or those we don’t even know
anything about. And here we are in 2016. Yeah, we made it. And many of us are
still on the same road we were on last year. Have you forgotten all the
promises and resolutions so fast? Have you started working towards all the
goals you carried over from 2015? Have you started thinking of new things you
can do this year? Are you still holding a grudge against that person? Why not
pick up the phone and call him or her or at least send a message now? You’ll be
surprised they probably don’t have anything against you and even if they still
do, you never can tell the impact your call or message could make.
I’ll like you to read this piece carefully. It’s something
many of us have seen a lot of times, I know.
3 There is a time for everything,
and a season for
every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be
born and a time to die,
a time to plant
and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill
and a time to heal,
a time to tear
down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep
and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn
and a time to dance,
5 a time to
scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace
and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search
and a time to give up,
a time to keep and
a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear
and a time to mend,
a time to be
silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love
and a time to hate,
a time for war and
a time for peace.
-Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
NOW is the time to heal, build, mend, love, seek peace... NOW
is the time to reflect on our lives. NOW is the time to make the change. NOW is
the time to drop the bad habits. NOW is the time to move closer to God.
There’s a time for everything...The time is NOW
